Dr. Karen Lau is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist who specializes in comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for adolescents, adults, and older adults. She earned her bachelor's degree in Neuroscience and Behavior from Mount Holyoke College and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University.
Dr. Lau completed extensive training in pediatric and adult neuropsychology across a variety of medical and academic settings, including the Chinatown Child Development Center, San Francisco VA Health Care System, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, the University of Illinois Chicago, and UC Davis Health. She has authored publications on mild traumatic brain injury and Alzheimer's disease.
In addition to her private practice, she serves as a clinical neuropsychologist at Kaiser Permanente. She is also committed to education and advocacy roles, mentoring doctoral students through the University of San Francisco and the University of California, Berkeley and serving on local boards in neuropsychology (Northern California Neuropsychology Form)
With more than a decade of clinical experience, Dr. Lau considers it a privilege to help individuals and families better understand cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning. Her private practice focuses on diagnostic neuropsychological assessment, with expertise in neurodevelopmental conditions, neurological disorders, cognitive changes, and psychiatric conditions. She also provides forensic neuropsychological consultation in matters involving decisional capacity and civil litigation.
A San Francisco native, Dr. Lau enjoys spending her free time traveling and exploring the outdoors with her family.
